I've decided to sell my prized possession: my classic, vintage, beautiful, incredible, bad-ass Fender Rhodes 88 suitcase. I dont really want to let it go but in all honesty, I dont have the time to play it so much these days and it's been sleeping in my basement so, it's time for someone to give it a new home and treat it right. For those of you who know what this keyboard is, it needs no introduction. It is basically the staple of all vintage funk, R&B, Jazz, acid jazz, fusion jazz, lounge, reggae, house, disco, 70s rock, etc, music. Made famous by people like Stevie Wonder & Herbie Hancock, the Rhodes changed music forever and is still being used and reused and reinvented with the advent of the latest edition of (non-Fender) Rhodes keyboards that were released a couple years back. The new versions are great but they dont come cheap. For the new models, you're looking at around 5000-6000$ and up.
I had a professional electrician/vintage instrument tech make me a custom power supply and had it rewired to output true analogue stereo left/right tremolo. The tremolo is insane, with speed and depth of effect. The Bass/trem knob is very powerful and on an 88 key, the low notes can shake a room. There's also a volume knob for.....volume. ;)
Aside from that, Im adding a heavy duty Keyboard stand to support the Rhodes and a custom made (by me) sustain pedal, which is wider (more like an organ pedal) and more comfortable to use than the standard Fender sustains that tend to be finicky.
Also, Im throwing in some vintage replacement "tines", which are very rare, especially in the lower end notes.
And last but not least, I managed to collect (1) CBS era Satellite speaker which, if you find another one, could give you true stereo analogue panning, which no synth keyboard could ever replicate. Ive recorded this Rhodes through amps or direct to board and it sounds killer either way; clean, vibrant, awesome, no joke.
Anyway, so that's that. As you can see, I love the thing but if you're a collector, enthousiast, musician or aficionado, you cannot be disappointed with this classic instrument.
Im not setting a price for all that, so Im accepting bids and the Rhodes, with all the extras, will go to the highest bidder before I place it on Ebay. Come pick it up in Montreal!
Thanks for checking out the ad. Take care, speak soon,
